Albuminuria

(al-BYOO-min-OO-ree-uh)

Albumin (al-BYOO-min) is a protein in your urine. Albuminuria occurs when your urine contains above-normal amounts of this protein, which could be a sign of kidney disease. When your kidneys become diseased, they can’t remove waste and extra fluids from your blood. Your chances of developing kidney disease are lower if you keep your blood sugar and blood pressure under control. Be sure to see your doctor regularly to have your kidney function checked.
